2008 Work Plan
Relentless developments locally and globally demand that HR professionals pursue programmes and initiatives that support people and commerce. We understand that successful management of human capital causes a ripple effect that positively impacts an organisation. As a team we have further expanded our outsight by looking beyond the internal elements during the development of our 2008 Workplan and in the adoption of the Department’s 2008 theme, which is ‘Bringing Human Resources Closer to You’. This theme initially started as part of the awareness campaign for the HR Devolution initiative, but it is recognised that the theme surpasses the decentralisation of human resources functions.
‘Bringing Human Resources Closer to You’ reflects the vision of the Department of Human Resources, which in essence speaks of our belief to fairly and consistently respond to the needs of our clients, simply because we recognise people as the Service’s most valuable asset. The work of the Department of Human Resources encompasses much more than managing people, skills and employment regulations; it transcends to generating and fortifying strategic partnerships for increased efficiency and the diversification of public services.
‘Bringing Human Resources Closer to You’ underpins all of the Department’s work, whether it is the professional development of employees, compensation management, workforce planning or administering various employee services, such as the employee assistance programme or counselling. At the close of each day it’s all about delivering quality service.
The adage of ‘Bringing Human Resources Closer to You’ will guide the Department of Human Resources throughout 2008 and years to come, as it keeps the service of people at the forefront of our HR programmes, policies and plans.
