Thank you for taking the time to review the 'Department of Human Resources' and Training Division's 2009 Workplan Overview'.  Annually the Department has an away-day to strategically plan and chart out some core initiatives that are aligned with the Department's HR intent and our customers' expectations.  Our workplan is a result of the day's activities.

As outlined in the document you will find educational/awareness programmes that are intended to empower our employees to improve professional relationships and support a healthy work/life balance.  Additionally we are assisting our Organisation to comply with common occupational health and safety standards while imparting workplace safety information to employees.  As part of our mandate to lead and support continous organisational improvement we are constantly exploring diverse developmental and learning opportunities to equip employees to deliver on the Government's strategic direction.  Furthermore initatives such as workforce/succession planning and the revision of the position management process underpin Government's sustainability and fiscal responsibility.

At the onset of each New Year we publish our workplan and by the close of the 1st quarter our Annual Report is produced.  We will always make these documents available to you through our Departmental website www.hr.gov.vg.  It is our expectation that as our stakeholders you will partner in holding us accountable to deliver on our objectives.  Additionally you are asked to provide us with vital feedback on our services.  It is our intention to fully grasp our customers' requirements, therefore we commit to use the comments received to make valuable enhancements to our existing programmes while innovatively introducing new initiatives.
